Robyn has been working in the field of Counseling and Body Centered Psychotherapy for 27 years. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults dealing with complex trauma, attachment disorders, mental illness and atypical developmental disorders in inpatient clinical settings as well as in the community and public schools.

Ms. Halsten obtained her Masters of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling in 1990 from Columbia College Chicago where she has taught, guest lectured and supervised students. She has lectured and presented her work on Body Centered Psychotherapy nationally and internationally as well as through the University of Wisconsin –Madison. Robyn has provided trainings for mental health professionals wishing to incorporate movement into their therapy practices.

She is trained in The Internal Family System (IFS) model of psychotherapy as well as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. She integrates the neuroscience of trauma research with these models in an effort to provide her clients with an integrated approach towards health and balance. Robyn believes that all people have the potential to move towards health and well-being and sees her role as a facilitator of that process.

Robyn is a consultant for Imagine a Childs Capacity where she provides in home psychoeducation and psychotherapy to adults dealing with atypical developing children and children with coexisting mental health issues. She also provides trauma informed perspectives and consultation to mental health teams and providers seeking alternative trauma informed resources for their clients.
